eBay Quick Tip: use a title to find/a subtitle to entice.

It is a well known fact that the vast majority of people looking for items to buy on eBay will use the search bar to type in keywords. Whenever the search button is hit, the database reads through listing titles and returns only those that include the keywords typed in.
Therefore it is vital that you think like a buyer and include words that people will use to search for your item and include them in your listing title.
If you do this well, then your listing will come up in the search results and your job is done, right? Well, not really! The first trick is to get your listing to come up in the results but now your listing is sitting there with all the others and there could be pages and pages of listings returned.
So now your job is to entice potential bidders to click on your listing. Once they have clicked on your listing you then, and only then, do you have the opportunity give your sales pitch.
Thus, I always use keyword rich titles as a means to make sure my listing is returned via a keyword search. But often this leaves little room to be descriptive. So that is when I use the subtitle. The subtitle can and should be creative/descriptive enough to get people’s attention and encourage them to click through to the listing. One suggestion would be to use the main benefit of your product. Or perhaps a benefit of the service you offer. I have been using the subtitle to inform people that there is a video they can watch to see the product in action.
A subtitle costs you .49c but will pay for itself if it means that you can entice more people to view your listing. Once there, I now have the opportunity to sell my product. The goal of a title/subtitle should always be to get people to click on and open your listing.

eBay Quick Tip: use a keyword rich title so that people will find your item, but use a subtitle that makes people want to find out more.
